United States Senator Thomas Pxyor Goro yesterday was exonerated ot charges ot Improper conduct by a verdict of his favor returned In district court in tho suit for $50,000 damages instituted insti-tuted by Mrs. Minnie E. Bond of Oklahoma City. Tho werdict was returned four minutes min-utes after tho case was given to the Jury. Only ono ballot was taken. t We find, tho Jury stated In the verdict, tho ovldenco submitted by tho plaintiff, entirely insufficient on which to base a suit; that said evidence evi-dence wholly exonerates tho defendant defend-ant and had the defandant at tho, conclusion of the plaintiff's evidence, announced that he desired to introduce intro-duce no evldonce and rested his caso our verdict would have been the same in that event as now returned by us in favor ot the defendant. Despite the efforts ot bailiffs to maintain order when the verdict was read, the crowd that filled the :ourt room turned Into a cheering throng. Senator Core heard tho Jury's decision de-cision without change of countcnanco Mrs. Gore was the flrst to grasp his hand. When she turned 'and shook, hands with Henry Carpenter, the foreman, tears were on the cheeks ot both herself and the aged farmer. |
