It has been asserted by somo dairymen dairy-men that the r feeding of crushed cats to cows will Improve the flavor ot milk. To ascertain tho correctness ot this theory a series of experiments was made by the bureau of animal industry in-dustry of the United States department depart-ment of agriculture at tho experiment", al dairy farm at BelUvllle, Md. Of these, 1 showed a preference for the milk from cows fed on crushed oats, 15 preferred that from the bran and corn ration. while nine expressed no choice. The results shows that in these rations, not only was there bo marked difference differ-ence in (favor of tha .crushed oats as a feed to Improve flavor, but, if any-thing, any-thing, 'the ration containing bran and corn was more successful in producing a fine-flavored milk. |
