'!(. o .4, Expression F&mthe Owners of Property What They Think About the Matter Of Paving Canter 8trst At Proposed By the Petition The Republican has been asked to feel the pulse of the property owners and residents of Center street and ascertain as-certain If possible If they are in favor fav-or of street paving. The city editor edit-or scouted about yesterday afternoon and mot the persons quoted below, each expressing himself on this very Important matter as indicated: H. O. Hhyball I favor tho Idea of paving the streets ot Logan City, both Main and Center 'streets, However, I am opposed to the paving of Center Cen-ter street with the pavement but sixteen six-teen feet on each side of the street. As Center street is ono ot tho main traveled thoroughfares ot tho city, I certainly feel that the street should be paved all tho way across, or elso wo should do io paving at all on this street until such time as tho proporty ownors feel ablo to make tho Improvements as indicated. William Watson If Cctator street, Is to bo paved at all, I would Insist that the pnvemont extend tho entire way across the street. I nm opposed to the sixteen feet of pavement nj proposed by a few now. Interesting themselves In this public Improve ment. Joseph Blthell As n roiident and proporty owner on Center street I stand on this matter of paving as It has been proposed hnd as outlined In tho petition which I signed along with a number of other property owners. own-ers. I will bo-found with those who are desirous ot getting this improvement improve-ment at the' earliest possible dato. D. H. Thomas I can seo no reason rea-son of having more than sixteen feet, of paving on each side ot tho street In the residence district, provided the balance df the street Is parked, therefore, there-fore, I am satisfied with having tho paving district created as now proposed. pro-posed. Joseph H. Salisbury I would bo delighted to see Center street pavod as It Is' ono ot the principal streets of the city but nm opposed to having It paved If It will work a hardship on the poor people who live on tills street. O, T. Alvord I am not opposed to paving but believe that Centor (street should be paved solidly If at all. I would prefer to seo our water system sys-tem Improved hnd then tako up the task of paving. Joseph Dahle I am not opposed to paving and bollove It a good thing for tho city. Dr. W. B. Pnrklnson Thoro aro so many things which tho city needs worso than paving ot Center street anil tho city Is bo heavily In debt. I would think tho bettor plan would bo to look after more Importnnt public pub-lic Improvements, such as tho Improvement Im-provement of tho water system. Bobert Anderson I am in favor of tho paving district as proposed and. outlined In tho petition submitted to the cenimlsslonors. In my oplnlou It Is the only way to got tho Improvement. Improve-ment. Tho Idea ot sthndliig out fcr a solid pavement to tho depot appears ap-pears to mo to bo merely a"moans whereby tho entlro Improvement may bo defeated. A 6lxteon foot pavement on each side of ttio siroet west from First West street, with gutter, is, (Continued on page eight) EXPRESSION FROM PROPERTY OWNERS (Coatinued from page one) sufficient. Tho balance of tho street can than bo parked and It will be ono of the most attractive and beautiful streets Jn tho state of Utah. The 'following persons havo signed the. petition for paving.
