Thear-le, Thear-le, president of tho Pain Flroworks Display company of America, was killed today, with four of hl8 employes employ-es In an explosion nnd fire which destroyed de-stroyed tho company's plant. Tho first explosion took place In tho steel and concieto vautts of tho Pain company building in which $000 worth of fireworks wero sirred. The vaults were supposed to bo llreproof and to bo able to withstand any ex-plosion ex-plosion but were blown to atoms. Adi Joining olllco buildings wero shaken and damaged. Many persons wero injured" by broken glass atid by being trampled. Tho explosion It was thought to night, might hayo been caused by a spark from wiring which Johnson, tho dead electrician was ndjustlng. Thearlo was a member of tho Green Iloom club, Friars club and Pleiades club in New York aud of -j number of Chicago clubs. Ho became president of the Pain company when It was purchased and reorganized after af-ter going into n receiver's hands In 1911. Tho original Pain company was forced to the wall by tho "Sano Fourth" agitation It was said. Thear-lo's Thear-lo's widow and one daughter are said to be In San Diego, California. The monetary loss was said to bo small. |
