Campus In the-Wesi; Surely and steadily yea after year tho Utah Agricultural campus grows toward that Ideal now almost realized real-ized "Tho Most Ileautlful Campus In tho West." Another big step was taken recently when tho contract was let for tho new" lighting project' which will soon be under process of construction, according to the lat- est word from Professor Ray II. West director of the school of.agrlcultural engineering. W Professor West states that tho work of making tho lighting system on tho campus equal to tho "Great Whlto Wny" will commence soon. The present plana for tho lighting ot tho grounds provide for tho Installation Installa-tion of fifteen cement and cast Iron lump posts crowned by four hundred watt globes ut different places on tho campus where they are moat needed. Wiring for theso posts will bo carried In underground conduits and no wiring will bo permitted above ab-ove ground. Tito woodon poles carrying car-rying tho necessary wires for tho supplying of olectilcal power for tho buildings will be moved to a place back of the windbreak 'where thev will be out of sight. Power lines will be brought Into tho buildings from an Inconspicuous place In the rear of the buildings. Another transformer trans-former station will be Installed In the Chemistry building which will provide pro-vide for the equalization of the cur-lcnt cur-lcnt used In the various buildings and for tho keeping of this cuncnt contnaut. The posts carrying the lighting globes will be made of Iron, Ir-on, mounted on substantial cement bases. They will carry a four hundred hun-dred watt lamp under a heavy glass shade. The now system In addition to niak Ing the campus more safo and light at night, will also go a, long way In adding to tho beauty of the grounds. The fluted columns of tho lamp posts will enhance the effect of the green lawns and flower beds. Tho removal of tho unsightly wooden', poles and the Installation of the wiring system will make things safe and also more beautiful. |
