If any of our readers are skeptical as to the way business success Is achieved, ach-ieved, a llttlo inspection of one of Logan's greatest business houses will dispel nil doubt, and demonstrate demon-strate clearly how small beginnings carefully watched nnd guarded make great accomplishments. Ono of our most striking examples examp-les of success nnd accomplishment, along suro nnd conservative lines, Is tho Anderson & Sons company, lumber merchants, nnd dealers in fine mill work. This concorn had a humblo beginning in 1800, under the name of Anthon Anderson, n name that Is a household word throughout northern Utah nnd southern sou-thern Idaho. In 1808 it Increased Its facilities, and changed its name to Anderson & Sons. In 1000, in order to meet tho demands made upon It, It again increased its facilities, facil-ities, ris well as its capital, nnd embarked em-barked under the namo of Anderson & Sons company, by which it is known today. Not until the- present year has it mado tho improvement that startles all who tako a sojourn through its mamoth plant on Third West and Second South streets. Finding that tho pressing demands mado upon it by a prosperous and progressive people peo-ple had mado its home entirely too small to take care of Its business, this company purchased tho property proper-ty just across tho street from its old homo, tho property known as the "Card Mill," with its 70 horse power water right, and for some time past a largo number of men havo bben busy with plows and scrapers, -concrete ''and steel, lumber lum-ber and nails, glass and asbestos, as a result of which there now stands on this old nbandoned site ono of tho nowest, most modern and up to date, and completely equipped lumber manufacturing establishment establish-ment In tho great west. Tho largo building Is 100 feet by 100 feet and Is built of reinforced concroto and heavy mill construction, construc-tion, with asbestos roof, nnd sky light. Tho lower story has a con-crcto con-crcto floor, and is equipped with tho very latest In wide steel doors. Here tho heavy machinery Is being Installed, Instal-led, such as saws, planers, etc., together to-gether with a large- machlno that takes all tho shavings from the floor and delivers them to the boiler room adjoining the main structure. In the northwest corner of tho lower floor Is tho mammoth Piatt iron Water Wheel, ssurrounded on flvo sides by concrete. Hero tho crystal watnr comes rushing in from a perfect concreto Intake and starts the wheel that sets the machinery in action, and from tho utilizing of this water machinery that produces the finished product In every department of tho building line Is operated. Tho spillway la made of concreto, and In fact tho entire way around tho building build-ing 1b a complete Job of tho' best there Is In concroto. Tho second floor, beneath tho great sky light, will be equipped with tho latest and most modern machinery for tho manufacturing of mill work. Adjoining tho main structure Is a glue room where flno veneered work will bo done aftor It has "gono through tho mill" on tho second floor. Also ndjolnlng 1b a dry kiln, whore timbers will bo sea-" soned before they aro shaped, glued and veneered Into the finest pieces of building materials in uso today. On the first of the coming year tho old plant will bo nbandoned, and the company will bo found in its now homo. In tho spring a line of new sheds will bo built, and thus a great central manufacturing establishment, es-tablishment, Becond to none in Its line, will bo at our very doors. From here tho fourteen yards owned own-ed and operated by this company In Utah and Idaho will bo supplied, and the people of northern Utah, Idaho and adjacent territory served. From thirty to fifty men will be em ployed at the plant, the buildings and adjacent rooms will all be heated heat-ed by steam, thus adding to tho comfort of the employees. The plant Is connectod by rail with tho O. S. L. and the O. L. & I. nnd on account of tho completeness complete-ness of Its organization, nnd connections connec-tions with the latest and biggest In tho lumber business all frionds and patrons aro assured of a maximum of service and product at a minimum of cost.
