Show THE SKIRT 18 COMING DOWN The skirt has surely gone up as high as It"s going to, and now it is coming down. Tho shoemakers know It, nnd It is a matter of business with them to know, too. They have taken about two inchos off the tops of the new fall shoes. This new skirt is not coming way down, however. It will stop about at the ankles. The tendency, tend-ency, too, is toward straight nnd narrower nar-rower lines. But it will bo a long way from the hobble. Women having been hobbled once aro not likely to be hobbled hob-bled again. That's where tho delights of freedom come In. ny the way, Cal-lot Cal-lot of Paris was among tho first of the sponsors for this longer skirt. Tho pert, flaring and bouffant aklrt .will still bo worn; but it has lost its novelty, nnd that was tho best part of Jt. Loib of women, however, thought its youthfulness tho 'best pert. They claimed that you couldn't tell tho grandmother from tho granddaughter, when viewed from behind, by wearing it But you see the granddaughter doesn't care about this, If a new style aeema more attractive, and the poor grandmother must submit. It does seem as though youth and fashion arc always In league, quite forgetting thht middle nge and old age have aspirations aspira-tions about being tastefully clothed.
