Show PAN-AMERICAN NATIONS TO CONSIDER PROBLEMS United States Invites Agents to Commercial and Financial Conference Washington, Dec. 29. All Central and South American nations havo been Invited by the United States government to send tholr ministers of flnanco and leading bankers to Washington for a conference with treasury department officials and financiers fi-nanciers of this Country on financial and commercial problems confronting tho two Americas as a result of tho European war. Acceptances already havo been cabled by Boveral of tho countries and tho conference probably prob-ably will bo held early in tho spring. Invitations for tho gathorlng wore sent forma'ly through tho embassies and legations hero. Tho plan originated orig-inated fwltli Socretnry McAdoo of tho treasury department, but Secretary Secre-tary Bryan and President Wilson hnvo taken an active Interest In putting put-ting It Into execution. It hns been suggested that Congress be asked for an appropriation to defray expenses, but whether or not this Is dono tho visitors will come ns tho guests of tho United States. Tho stato department depart-ment has n contingent fund avallablo for such a purpose. |
