Show VOIC OF THE PEOPLE THE CITY COUNCIL. Editor Itepubllcnni Last fall tho Parents' classos of tho city through the Sunday school t'nlon, appointed n committee to wait on tho city council nnd request them to Install In-stall six sanitary water fountains on tho principal sidewalks of our city. Tho commltteo met with tho council and Instead of receiving a promlso of six fountains, 'the council did ngreo to Instnll throe. i am told they at once ordered two fountains, which later reached our city, one of which wns Installed on the corner of Main nnd Center street. Tho old fountain nt tho corner of Mnin and First North was changed Bomowhnt that it might bo considered a snnltnry fountain while the other ono shipped In Is now lying cozlly stored nway by tho "city fathers" sonio place In our town, As 'a taxpayer and water drinker I would like to know why this other fountain is not installed. It certainly does not look like the part of business men handling our city affairs, to In-est In-est In a fountain and then not Install In-stall it nnd glvo thoso who havo paid for It tho benefit derived from Its use. Our "Fnthors" ought to awaken up nnd ask themselves the question if that is tho way they do tholr own business. Tho citizens need and want tho 6ther fountain and think that thore should be no further delay. Let us havo tho fountain Installed. Puro water means good health, and a sanitary san-itary fouutnln is n good Investment, j nnd ns wo havo It paid for, lot us i havo tho use of It. There Is no reason rea-son for d!luy. "Do It now " A WATER DIUNKKK. |
