Show I Laid to Rest. 1 1 ;i Mr. Jasper Lemmon is laid Away With Imposing Ceremonies. Mkniion Sept. , 11)05. One of the largest funerals eer held In the Men-don Men-don meeting house, was that or Mr. Jasper Lemmon, who was found dead in his pasture, Monday morning, death jesultlng from lieatt failure. The funeral opened by singing the "Sacred Reams the Sun is Dawning," Mr. Peter Laisen offered prayer after which the choir sang "My Father In Heaven." Matiy strangeis were present, pres-ent, some of whom spoke of the goodness good-ness of the deceased, who was a man of many friends, and who will be missed. miss-ed. The speakers were as follows: Mr. Andrew Andersen, Mr. Jens Jensen Jen-sen of Mendon, Mr. Wm. Cunningham of Pctcrboro, Mr. J. .. Stewart Jr., of Logan, Superintendent Isaac Sorcn-son Sorcn-son and Itlshop Dclbert Hlrd of Mendon Men-don and also one of his nieces. The good woids tliat were spoken for the dcpaited weio not few, all being acquainted with him from boyhood. They spoke of him as being a good 9 man In Die L. D. S. chinch, being prompt in his duties and willing to do all that was required of him. He was (afstralght man in business, always 'SftJPItrylng to do light with eveiybody. Benediction was tendered by John Willie. The lemalns were followed to the cemetry by many buggies, and people walked to the last resting place of the deceased. All of Mr. Lem-mon's Lem-mon's children were present and also !hls brothers excepting one who could not be in attendance Ono of the largest and best dances that has over been held in Mendon, was given by the Mendon orchestra, in Itlchards hall Saturday evening. The Moor was In the best condition, and tho music was also good. Tliero were visitors from all parts, and it Is bure that they all enjoyed themsehes to the greatest extent. The orchestra will give another ball next Saturday. Tho Mendon schools begin next ' Thursday. The teachers selected aro Principal Jessie T. Reese from llenson Ward, Miss Ida Walters, and Miss Williamson from Wcllsvllle. Mr. and Mrs. Willis Hardmau, went to Sterling last week, remaining there I jur days, and returning homcycstci-clay. |
