It hns sheer walls of rock fronting tho sea, In which arc deep holes whero a certain cer-tain sea swallow builds Its nest. The wild aborigines, Tagbnnounas, collect tho nests from tho cliffs by means of long vino ropes, selling them to Chi-neso Chi-neso traders, who export them to their own country, whero thoy aro considered consid-ered a great delicacy. The nests are threo Inches long and bring $12 (Moxi-can) (Moxi-can) for bunches of ten or twelve, according ac-cording to size. Tho gum of which thoy uro largely composed Is a secretion secre-tion from tho salivary glands of the swallows. |
