Show The published statements of the holdings of the late Thomas l. Dee, of Ogdcn, may be used as an object lesson. Judge Dee had considerable cash on hand, and Investments In sound Institutions, but the list also shows that he held stock In a very large number of local enterprises designed de-signed to devlop certain resources of the country. In order to help this, that or the other propo-dtlon along, he had subscribed and paid for a small block of stock, and It Is noted that most of these propositions developed Into nourishing industries. The re-souices re-souices of any country must necessarily necessari-ly lie profitless unless capital for do-" vclopment is obtained, and It Is an exceedingly commendable thing for men with money to oiler as much encouragement en-couragement to struggling enter prises as Is within reason. .Many legitimate legiti-mate propositions go to the wall for the lack of a little money at a critical time, and the community loses an industry in-dustry which if developed would be well worth the while. |
