Mawrleo Swlnyard, with Hyrum llayball, went to Salt Lake on Monday morning in the Interest of the Lcwlston Mercantile company. Engineer Ocoigc L. Swcndson, of Salt Lake City, spent Sunday night with his relatives In KIchmond, returning re-turning home on Monday morning. Hlshop Henry T. Rogers, of Preston, with his family, spent Thanksgiving day In Logan. From here they went lo Benson, the lilsliop's old home, returning to Preston on Monday. Owing to tho sugar beets being frosted before thoy were delivered to the factory, and n large amount of dirt deposited with them, the Lcwlston factory will lose about one thousand tons of beets. Scoies of men arc engaged in sorting the beets. A. M. Merrill, superintendent of tho schools at Oakley, Idaho, and editor of Hie Oakley Eagle, spent the Thanksgiving holidajs with lelatlons and friends In this vicinity. Saturday morning ho went to Salt Lake city Intent In-tent on discovering means to better the Eagle. Mr. Merrill says that he U getting along nicely with his school work and enos the newspaper work very much. Jos. E. Taylor, member of the State Hoard of Horticulture, in speaking of tho farmer's Institute at Morgan the other day, said that while ho and other members of the Hoard were there, they discovered that orchardists of that county had been sold many worthless worth-less trees. Somo unprincipled agent of a company of grafters had gone through the county and disposed of large numbers of tices of certain varieties, vari-eties, and when they arrived they looked look-ed fairly good to tho purchasers. In reality, tho trees were practically dead, and the whole thing turned out a swindle.
