Show Wellsville. Wellsville was not ono whit behind the best In their celebration thero on tho Fourth. Tho usual preliminaries to tho main program were carried off well. Miss Canle Jones, tho Goddess of Liberty, together with her maids, looked beautiful. Quite a number of excellent floats were In the parade and alo eighty handsomely mounted joungmen and young ladles on horseback. Hon. Moses Thatcher, Congressman Jos. Howell and Judge Hartdcllvcicd orations which wore highly appreciated bythcgicat audience that gathered for the piogram, Other exercises were well rendered and, In all, this part of tho days' festivities was a grand and edifying success. In the afternoon two base ball games occurred. Ono was between the Maughans of Wellsville and the Hclncrs of Morgan county, and tne other between Wellsville and Morgan and In both games Wellsville was victorious. The day's celebration was concluded by a grand ball In tho meeting house. |
