Show M THE COM NERCIAL CLUB. BBB A gentleman piomincnt in the BBB Cache Club circles says that there BBB should boan awakening in regard to BBB the various committees taking up the BBB work they a r supposed to do and BBB ' pushing it. According to this gentle- man's belief there arc lying dormant here possibilities for development unlimited. un-limited. For Instance ho" Insists that along Hear river as far up as Cache Junction maybe found a clay or rock containing contain-ing aluminum He lias compared this with other alumina bearing material, has tested it as far as It Is within his power and Is confident that the clay Is the same. At the present most of the aluminum comes from Virginia and Is extracted at great plants at the Niagara Falls. He believes the Club should take up such a thing as this and have It tested properly. The cost would be inslgnltlcant. Again, the claim Is mado that there is mixed up with some of the mineral-l.atlons mineral-l.atlons here a something or other used In the tempering of steel. This 1 Is expensive because of Its rarity. This gentleman Insists that he has good proof of Its existence. I He also believes that we hate onyx In our mountains that is wortli Investigation. Inves-tigation. Some poor grade stutl Is found on the surface In various places in the canyons, and small quantities of a good quality have been found. It Is also believed by many that we have various marble deposits of great value, marble that Is well worth the while. It Is known, of course, that much water power Is going to waste in the J canyons, which If utilized for factory purposes would mean a great growth and development for Logan and Cache Valley. While on our coast trlp.a gentleman in speaking of this country said that there should be located here such a thing as a staw hat factory, or several of them. The cheaper straw hats are made of wheat straw and In this country coun-try there Is much of it. Until Just a short time ago there was no straw hat factories west of the Missouri, but recently re-cently two or three have been installed install-ed In California. As the matter stands totlav straw Is shipped from the west to the east and then shipped back in hats. In the opinion of the Commercial Club man mentioned above, the club could not possibly develop these things of course, but could and should investigate inves-tigate their worth in a fairly business like way and then present the propositions proposi-tions to mon with money, and let them decide to take hold and develop if It seems worth the while. The gentleman's suggestions are good. The club can well allortl to start an investigation as to the real merits of tho Indications we have here, value of power, quantity of raw pioduct- in other words can well allord to got accurate information, statistics and figures and advertise. If individual committees will do their part the club will certainly be able to do things of value. Let's look atomic! us. |
