Show Some Odd Resemblances. Odd resemblances to vnrlous objects, which can only bo regarded as accidental acci-dental coincidences, aro presented by a number of fungi, says the Itov. A. S. Wilson, in Knowledge. Thoro is tho Jowsear fungus, which grows on stumps of tho cldor, and Is so named from Its unmistakable likeness to a human car. Tho gcastors are curiously curious-ly like a starfish; asorbo has an extraordinary ex-traordinary rescmblanco both In form and color to a sea anemone; equally rcmarkablo Is tho likeness to a bird's nost seen In species of cruclbulum, cyathus and nldnlnrla. Tho most of those are too small to Impose on ono; tho resemblance Is singularly exact, and a large specimen might pass for tho nest of soma small bird, tho eggs being admirably represented by tho little' oval fruits of tho fungus. |
