Show A BRILLIANT RECEPTION Tendered President and Aunt Zina Card at Cardston, before be-fore their Departure. On Saturday the 27th, President .and Aunt Zina Caul were given a farewell fare-well reception at Catdston, Alberta, and f lom a write-up of the same In tho Albeita Star, we aie led to believe that the people there have thoroughly appreciated these estimable people. The whole fiont page of the Star Is devoted to the occasion, and without doubt the affair was one of tho most enjoyable thing of tho kind ever given in that part of the country. The Star savs in Dart: "Tho laige Assembly Hall was crowded from pit to, dome last Saturday Satur-day by the friends and relatives of President and Aunt Zina Card who had congregated to do them honor 'ere they left to make their home in Logan, Log-an, Utah. A more rousing testimonial testi-monial of appreciation has never been recorded. It was not altogether the sad. dole farewell, but the "Thanks to God we have known them," the spirited, amlnatcd air of good feeling, tiic warm bicath of giatitudc and the kindly tones of eulogy and commendation. commenda-tion. The brass band was out In full uniform; the boys blew their horns and beat their diums in stirring strains of music sweet; evciybody seemed to partake of the spirit. The hall was beautifully decorated, by the sisters of the Relief Society and aids: the lipcnlng grain was profusely and tastily sprinkled around the walls; flowers of varied kinds richly decorated decor-ated the stand, and a large sti earner "Our Beloved Plotters,1' on cither side was a large phture of Charles Ora and Aunt Zina, was suspended above the front of the stage." Following is a complete report of the remarks of various speakers. Mamie lbcy paid a most glowing tribute tri-bute to Aunt Zina, whose safe counsel and earnest labor with the Y. L. M. I. Association there has brought that organisation to a high state of perfection. per-fection. Among other good things Miss Ibey said: How far Aunt Zina has been engaged en-gaged in this great work, all who have been associated with her, are prepared to say. Her life and labors In this land arc like an open book; she has given freely of her wise council and advice, and I venture to say that every girl who has enrolled in the Y. L. Ass'n. have been helped and encouraged en-couraged by Aunt Zina. From the depths of her soul tilled with the love of God, our Pres. has reached out to save the daughters of Zlon. All of her teachings we tlnd full of a spirit of loving counsel and gentle pleading for the right, her thoughts arc from a pure unspotted mind, her good counsel is given to all. Knowledge Is broad like the river and will scatter its waves afar. The good she has done will not perish with her mortal frame, but with her Immortal spirit will live throughout eternity." Pres. Wood In a thirty minutes address ad-dress could not say too much of these good people who have done so much for that section of tho country, and closed his remarks as follows: "To Logan let us say; your gain Is a severe loss to us and while we have the Invigorating breezes, the longi sunlit days of summer and the grasses and flowers upon a thousand hills yet wo would not withhold the scenes and associates of the childhood of Uro. and Sister Catd, but Joseph is our own, Zina Is our own and Rega why he belongs to us and Cardston wants them soon again, and while Is sad for you to leave us It will much worse if you never come back." And then still others talked, a special poem was read, and there was no end of music. The occasion was more delightful than can be told In words and a fitting testimonial to the regard in which the departing family Is held. |
