Show Kick From Providence Providence, Utah, August 29. Editor Edi-tor Republican. As there Is lots of talk about the increase of sickness among us, especially typhoid fever, I thought I should like to have my little say about sotho of the causes. In this town, 1 think there aie more than 200 cows driven to and from pasture each day. Just consider the dust that is kicked up by 200 cows twice a day, and then consider what that dust Is composed -of. We must breath this stuff into our lungs every morning and evening, and is it any wonder we are sick? Again, the fruit in our orchards is so covered wltlulust that you have to look twice to tell the color of it. Now think of chlldicn picking that fruit and eating It beforo It Is washed. Their stomachs arc tilled with tilth and nasty dirt. . Again, visit the place wheic stock is kept, and where cows are milked. I, asked a boy one day, "do you wash tho bags of your cows befoie you milk?" Ho looked sui prised and astonished as-tonished and said "No!" Now who wants that milk, not I. What kind of condensed milk would that make? You need a pair of gum boots to go through the plices where the cows are kept. In wet weather, I have seen streams or dark filth running across the sidewalks Into the ditches. I do not speak of these things just to tlnd fpult, but with the feeling that something should be done for the good of the people. I think our Hoard of Health should take this under advisement, and that our doctors doc-tors might take this matter up and visit these places. 1 think we have entirely 'to much stock kept in our town for the good health of the people, peo-ple, and what I say of this place, can be said of most of the other towns.
