C. played with tho Logan eleven at the college campus Wednesday afternoon and won out by a score of (1 to C. Mr. Robert Holmes met with an unfortunate accident last Monday evening that will lay him up for some time. His horse became frightened and ran away throwing him to the ground and causing a compound fracture frac-ture of the right arm abovu the elbow. A leg was aiso broken at the ankle, and he was otherwise bruised. Owing to the seriousness of the injury to the arm, Mr. Holmes was taken to the hospital at Salt Lake for treatment. Because of the "knocking" done by some of the students, the football squad of the A. C. caught three of the alleged culprits, Turner, Thatcher and Toombs, and gave them a douching under the shower bath apparatus. The boys, soaking wet, were then marched to the large chapel where the students were gathered for morning morn-ing exercise, and had placed on them a placard bearing the inscription "Treatment Accorded Traitors." They were subjected to this treatment for a time and then turned loose. This occur oc-cur led on Thursday morning, and It Is safe to say that by this time there are a few who feel more Inclined to case up on their talk "fcrnlnst" the local team. From all reports It seems that the students of the A. C. are not giving their team very good support. Re-cause Re-cause the boys have not won games this season, the students have gone to "knocking," and this disposition has caused considerable feeling on the part of the other students, and some members of t he faculty. They believe that the loys arc doing the best they can and that Campbell will yet work them up into a championship team. They have perfect confidence in the future outcome of the foot ball season sea-son so far as the A. C. team Is concerned con-cerned and believe that the team should receive the hearty encouragement encourage-ment of every loyal student. One of the lady mcmbeis of the faculty who Is a football enthusiast and loyal to the core, washeaul to express horself to the effect that theie should be some retaliation for this spirit of disloyalty. dis-loyalty. Of course the faculty has no interest in' doing such a thing, hut said she: "If I were a' girl student in that institution and the loys refused to stand by their team I would do everything 1 could to make it unpleasant unpleas-ant for them. They should be ostra-sicd." ostra-sicd." If such enthusiasm ius this peimated the entire student body there is little doubt that it would piovc bencllclal to tho team and show itself In the woik of the aggorgatlou. The work of the A. C. Imysat Salt Lake last Saturday was vory encouraging encourag-ing lather than discouraging. The home team was up against an "all-star" "all-star" combination every man In the N. (1. team having had from two to live years experience. In .football as most other matters, experience counts moic than all other Influences combined. com-bined. Campbell is laying for that University game on Nov. 15th and is not caring particularly whether his team wins a single game before that time. The boys get the practice whether they win or not, and that's what he Is after. |
