Show A Glass Road, Not least among tho wonders of tho National Yellowstone Park are tho singular obsidian cliffs. They are formed of a volcanic glass, that, In color, resembles tho cheap green bottles bot-tles of commerce. They rise In, almost, al-most, vertical columns, which, though opaque, glisten like Jot. At their baso Is a road, probably unique upon tho globo. It consists entirely en-tirely of glass, and Is a quarter of a mllo long. To construct It largo fires were built upon the obsidian mass. Cold water was then dashed on tho hented surfaco, cotislng It to crack nnd crumblo to pieces. This tedious undertaking, finally, resulted In a roadway that Is tho admiration and wonder of all who behold It. |
