Show The Clayton trial. t,ln the direct examination of Amasa Clayton In the trial now pending, he stated emphatically that he never changed a tlgurc, or a total of colums, never retained or took a dollar from the county treasury. He stated that on each night two others checked up cash with himself. Questions were asked relative to a till that was used for depositing county coun-ty fees, licences, etc. Messrs. Hendricks, Hend-ricks, Hayball and defendant all had 'access to the draw. v As wo go to press, Mr. Clayton Is under cross-examination. The case is creating a great deal of interest, there being a large attendance each day. It is questionable atout the case being finished this week, |
