Show ENTHUSIASTIC OVER ROADS Delegates From Idaho Convention See Great Improvement In Gem State Towns At the meeting of the Commercial club held Wednesday June IB, tho matter of good roads, construction, etc., was the main topic for discussion. discus-sion. Mr. J. A. Hendrlcxson, Olot Cronqutst, President T. Leroy Cardon, Car-don, C. M. Harris .and George F. Thatcher, all delegates to the Good Roads convention held at Dolse, Ida., were unanimous in saying that in many respects some of the Idaho cities were growing and developing much faster than wo are, nevertheless neverthe-less with a littlo more loyalty and energy en-ergy we could make our city and coun ty far better and more beautiful than theirs because of the many natural advantages we have. It was reported that towns In Idaho with a population of 3000 had one and one naif miles of street paving, good hotels, good roads, and beautiful farms. Other cities such as Twin Falls eight years ago, was nothing but sagebrush, now It has a population of 8oo9, many blocks of street pavement, good hotels, ho-tels, cluster lights, and many beautiful beauti-ful farms. Tho bonding of Cache county for good roads, and tho sccunng of convict con-vict labor was discussed. It was decided de-cided that tho roads, streets, ana sidewalks committee consider tho advisability ad-visability of bonding Cache county for good roads and make n written report to tho club at Its next meeting July 1C, and to make application for convict labor for our roads. A communication from Dr. E. G. Peterson asking that tho club assist the Agricultural Collego in entertnln-lng entertnln-lng tho N. E. A. excursionists to arrive here on July 12, was read and referred to the public entertainment committee. Prof. P. L. West was elected as a member of tho club. Mr. J. M. Kirkham of Lehl and Mr. E. W. Dunn of nrlgliam City representing tho Utah Development League were present In tho Interest Of the club rejoining tho league. It was decided that it bo tho senso of the meeting that tho club rejoin the leaguo and that such recommendation be made to the hoard of directors. |
