Sho had on0 friend a kind lady who was very good to her. One day her friend received an Invitation In-vitation to spend Christmas with sqme friends in another town so sho asked Ellen to go with her. It was a long way out In th0 country coun-try and there wero no trains, so they had to go in a llttlo sleigh. Tho lady whose name was Allco asked her brother John to go with them bo ho got the sleigh nnd horses ready while Ellen and Allco put on their warm coats, furs and mittens. Away they went for a long rids tho horses trotting over the frozen snow nnd tho bells jingling. After they reached tho friend's home Ellen, found many moro llttlo boys and girls nnd thoy had such a good time making presents for tho ones they loved. Christmas eve camo and such a happy tlmo ns they had. They wero all whispering secrets to each other and played games. Soon bed time came and each llttlo llt-tlo boy and girl hung their stockings by the big lire place for they thought suro Santa Claus would bring them something nice. Then they Jumped Into bed and soon wero fast asleep. They dreamed of Santa Claus with a big pack on his back. Ileforo It was light tho next morning, morn-ing, every llttlo boy nnd girl was up running to the flro place in their llttlo llt-tlo white night gowns and how happy hap-py they were when they saw tho stockings filled right to the' top. Then they ran back to tho bed and had a good tlmo taking out each present pres-ent and such a noise, some wero beat lng drums, some blowing trumpets, and tho girls wero admiring their beautiful dolls. After breakfast they were all taken ta-ken to tho library where they saw tho most beautiful Christmas tree they had ever seen It was some time beforo dinner. The long table tvns covered with good things to eat Tho big turkey and red cranberries und many other nico things were placed on. Then best of all, the plum pudding. After they had eaten all they wanted, all went to tho library. Allco played tho piano and they all danced and played games. Then they all went to tho parlor to see the big tree nnd they all ate candy and nuts. Tho children played with their toys. Alice and Ellen stayed for several days and such good times as they had, Ellen said she never had such a good Christmas beforo In all her life. |
