The legislature is overwhelmingly overwhelming-ly Republican In both of Its branch es, though tho Democratic membership member-ship has increased over that of recent re-cent sessions. In tho sennto there will bo 10 Republicans and 2 Democrats, Demo-crats, and In tho house 31 Repub'l-enns Repub'l-enns and 14 democrats. The majority has not yet prepared n program of legislation and may not do so. However, an effort will bo mado to write into law tho pledges pledg-es of tho Republican ' platforms. Two proposed amendments to tho federal constitution will come beforo the stato leglslnturo for ratification. Ono Is tho proposed income tax amendment, ratification of which was defeated two years ago, and tho other oth-er is tho proposed amendment providing provid-ing for tho direct election of United States senators. New County Proposed Citizens of Wasatch nnd Uintah counties will nsk for tho enactment of n law permitting tho formation of a now county, out of portions of these two counties. An amendment to the constitution giving the leglslnturo legls-lnturo power to enact such a law failed fail-ed of adoption at tho recent election. However, It Is believed by sonio that tho lcglslaturo has this power despito this fact, and nn effort will bo mndo to securo tho passage of such a bill.
