Show BOOSTERS FAVOR FIRE APPARATUS Heartily Approve Plans of H City Commissioners. Sug- H gest Purchase of Motor Fire Equipment. Mayor Hayball f To Attend Fire Engineers H Convention in Denver. v H The City Commissioners met iu H a special meeting called by tho H President of the Commercial- H Boosters Club to consider the ad H visability of purchasing a firo H equipment for Logan City. A H large crowd of citiezus nnd busi- - H ncss men were present. After H much discussion a vote was taken H which was almost unanimous iu H favor of buying the equipment ,H which the commissioners rccom- . H mended. During the discussion. frlil the following facts were brought tjLLl outr that Logan at the present tiH lime lias the poorest fire equip- !sifl ment of an' city of its size in t .H the West, consequently the firo H insurance rates are much higher H that as soon as the now firo H equipment is installed, we were H guaranteed that the fire insurance H rates would be ten percent less, H which would make a saving oC H over $1200.00 a year, besides giv- H ing better protection to all unin- H sured property, the value of K H which niiiiot be estimated. This B saving of $1200.(10 would in n few H years pay for the equipment. ,. H It wa.3 the sense of the meet- M mg that Mayor Hayball or a rep- M rcscntative of the city attend tho H International Fire Engineers Con- H vention at Denver Sept. 1G to H 20, and witness the, demoustra- H tiVnis of all the up-to-date firo. H fighting apparatus, particularly ' H the one to be purchased by Logan $ H City. j JiH The one thing that pleased the j "il ical boosters at the meeting on t jH Wednesday evening was that the 3 iH City Commissioners brought this H matter to the Club, and every cit- ''jOR izen and business man in Logan, ',tLLLi whether a club member or not, ' H was invited to attend the meet- 1 ing. What wc need most in Lo- ot gau is a strong Commeicial club, o H and city officials who will bring to VH public questions to the Club just t'iiH as the Commissioners did in this iH case. If a mistake is then made W M wc shall all have to shoulder the We , blame, aud not be finding fault n with our city officials. 0 We can always find a few who er, ,H will find fault with everything ,na H that is done in a public way, but ku- the doors of tho Commercial- X8iH Boosters Club have always been U open to the citizens of Logan to ' inH discuss public questions, nnd all 'cwH should be willing to stand by the hde decisions of the majority. lyLH |
