Show IS IT THE HOUSE OF THE LORD? Theoretically thcro Is no reason why the Democratic State convention should not be held in the tabernacle, but yet there Is a certain sense of tho eternal fitness of things, a ringing In our ears of the divine command, "Make not my Father's house.a house of merchandise," an unwillingness to mingle unduly the sacred with the profane, all of which makes us wish that the convention were to do Its work In the opera house, the auditorium auditor-ium or the P. Y. college. Of course, If any convention were to be held In the tabernacle we should prefer to have It a republican as weare persuaded persuad-ed that republican deliberations would be of a more righteous nature than democratic. But that is Just our way of thinking. Any convention of a political nature brings with Itstieams of tobacco Juice and a tralu of associations associ-ations which are out of place in a building dedicated primarily to religious relig-ious uses. After tho building of the organ the good women labored long and .well to clean tho tabernacle and now they will have their work to do over again. |
