Show j B.Y.C.Team I On Way East I Left for Chicago I Yesterday Morning I Will Play in Big Tourna- I ment There. H , Tho H. Y. C. basketball team, with B subs Young and Rawlins, Coach Bad- cnoch, and Honorable John W. Craw-H Craw-H ford, loyal fan and frenzied financier H of the trip, left yesterday morning for Chicago, Illinois, United States of H America. The team goes to partlcl- H pate in a championship tournament, B and Incidentally to give the Mlnne- aota, Nebraska and Colorado cham- B plonslilp teams the game of their B lires. There is also a budding hope E that the Utah team will happen to S run Into that Muscatine (Iowa) bunch. E There Is a strong belief here that a n severe drubbing is due the Iowa aggre- S gallon at the hands of a Logan team m -and the Crimsons are anxious to ad- !Bi n minister the chastisement. I Students Get Out. I 'J he start yesterday morning was made amid the huzzahs of 700 students ' and the music of the college band. Practically the entire student body I met at the college at 8 o'clock and ?Jfci marched to the statlonTwith the team wp and band at the head of the column, M The enthusiastic students sang songs, m yelled and whooped things up In such 9 a way that the Crimsons will certainly M do or die when on the floor Jt comes to their mind what these loyal friends Continued on Page 4 B. Beside this demonstration, the chapel service on Thursday was devoted to some rousing send-offs, in which Future-Mayor John Crawford shared; and in the afternoon a dancing danc-ing matinee was gjven in honor of the team. Tho speed with which the arrangements ar-rangements were completed and team hustled eff left little time for further expressions of good will and hearty cheer, else there would have been a reception or two and an elaborate demonstration. Just before getting away Photographer Torgcson took pictures of the party. The tlrst game to be played will probably be with the University of Chicago team two or three days after arrival. This will be an exhibition game designed as an advertiser and a money-maker. Then will follow the games In the tournament next week, In which teams from all over the east take part. On the trip home the Crimsons will probably play at Minneapolis, Minne-apolis, Minn., Lincoln, Neb., and Denver, Den-ver, Colo. Whatever the result of the games played the trip will be a great one for the Crimsons, and a splendid advertisement for the Mormons, for none will doubt thatour mutual friend Crawford wll lookout for the news-! news-! paper features. Chances for Success. Speaking of B. Y. C. chances for honors In the big games east, It Is safe to predict that tho wanderers from Utah will not come homo without u few scalps tied to their belts. The eastern basketball game Is not as fast as the Utah game, but as a rule Is considerably con-siderably rougher. If the eastern football foot-ball style of playing doesn't rattle the local boys they will show up well with the best teams In the tournament. .The Muscatine team, which was beaten beat-en by both the Y. M. C. A. and L. D. S. U. teams a short time ago, had won all but four or live games out of forty played east of Utah, and all of ui are familiar with tho fact that the B. Y. C. team has repeatedly beaten both of the Utah teams that defeated the Muscatlnes. This gives a fair line-up on the chances of the Crimsons. Logan and Utah people as a whole I have contldcnce that the H. Y. C. learn I will give a splendid account of iUelf 1 while away and have hope that It will return home crowned with Iioiiois galore |
