Show Two of Logan's Favorites Entertain - A few of the music loving people of this city had the pleasure last Saturday Satur-day evening of hearing Miss Nora Ellason and Miss Lillian Oliver at the home of Mr. and Mrs. G. n. Champ. These two young women have long been much appreciated In Logan and now they come back with the additional addi-tional charm of foreign and eastern training and show us how natural talents may be developed and perfected perfect-ed under the right Influences. Miss Oliver has been studying In Paris with the well known pianist, Harold Bauer, and she has technique, artistry, and feeling such as few concert con-cert pianists possess. She played selections from Schumann, Grieg, Chopin and Lizt in a way that brought her hearers completely under her spell. Miss Ellason has a grand opera voice. Her rendering of the difficult aria from LaGloconda showed that she could be easily at home in the operatic repertory. Power, brilliancy, distinction, distinc-tion, all are characteristics of her singing. Her voice was a delight to tier hearers.but was almost too powerful power-ful oven for the large rooms of the Champ home. To be heard to its best advantage it needs a large concert hall or theatre, for with Its carrying power it makes Itself felt in every corner. Besides Be-sides her operatic selections, Miss Ellason gave several songs in each of which she showed herself a consummate consum-mate artist. Logan has two excellent musicians In these young women and will be glad to have a chance to hear them later In a concert program. |
