Show General Improvements Improve-ments at Cornish CORNISH, October 11. Thinking that a few Items from here might prove Interesting to the readers of Tiik Rki'uiilican I take pleasure In jotting them down. In a letter written writ-ten from here last year we predicted a rapid growth for this ward. Since then there has been considerable advancement ad-vancement In many lines. Frank Peart and George Pope each have erected nice comodlous residences and Wm. Dopp and Fred Parkinson, son of Dr. W. 11. Parkinson of Logan, have added rooms to their dwellings andoow have ample room for present needs. A thousand dollar barn adorns the premises of Joseph Rawlins and oue almost its equal has been built by J. W. Pitcher. The price of real estate has taken quite an advance, and with heavy crops of wheat, beets and alfalfa she Is coming to the front. Cornish ii growing in population and In material wealth. There has been a Sabbath-school organised since we were here last year with Wm. Dopp Superintendent and J W. Pitcher and Ernest Butters as assistants. An Improvement association associa-tion will be organized In the near future fu-ture and most of the other ward organizations or-ganizations arc in fairly good working order. The ward authorities contemplate building, during the coming winter, a new meeting-house, school-house and a Relief society gralnery. This being a good cattle country, as well as a farming district, there U quite a revenue derived from their milk which goes dally to the Richmond Rich-mond Condenser. Present Indications point to the ie-moval ie-moval of the Cornish rail road station to Ranson spur, as It Is from heie that most of the products are shipped. Any oue wishing to purchase the now popular Duroc Jersey Swine, can have their wants supplied by calling on Frank R. Peart, as he keeps on hand a large supply of these pigs. When it comes to raising beets, we are strlckly In it. Some of the finest beets that wc have ever seen, grow here. There has been a large acreage planted and the tonnage U excellent. There are about 30 families all told in Cornish, about half of them belonging belong-ing to the Mormon church. Yes, strl Cornish Is a growing town and Is rapidly coming to the front. |
