Show THE SIRE WINNING TICKET I Republican County Nominees Are All I Winners. Are Capable Efficient and I Men of Many Friends... I Joseph S, Allen of Cove, the republican repub-lican nominee for commissioner for the two-year term, will make an ideal officer. In his hands can b& entrusted the allalrs of Cache county with perfect per-fect safety, for there Is no question but what, when he Is elected, It will be ills pleasure to do that which will be for the best good of the whole people. peo-ple. While Mr. Allen has a general knowledge of the county, having transacted tran-sacted business from one end to the other, and having thus mado a wide circle of friends, he will give the northern portion of the county a prop.-r representation, as no mau is in a better position to know the needs of the people In the north than he. Mr. Allen is eminently qualified and fitted for this position. Before spending two years In the south on'a mission, where he served his church with credit and houor, he spent two years in study at the Brlgham Young college. Since his return from the south he was chosen through Ills fitness to represent repre-sent the people of this state for two years at thd bureau of Information In Salt Lake City. In this position of responsibility he constantly met with men of Influence and of diversified opinions. Since returning home he has been placed on the bishopric of his ward. In this Is shown the confidence confi-dence in which ho Is held at home. In business Mr. Allen has been successful. suc-cessful. He has been wise and honest In his dealing with his fellowman. He Is conservative, not a drop of tho ranting, radical blood is found In his veins. In Mr. Allen the people In the county need have no fear but he will continue the good roads work which has already been begun by the present pres-ent county commissioners. As to Diana Beach, our nominee for county recorder, we will just quote tho words of our esteemed contemporary contempo-rary In its last issue, wherein it states that "there are few more obliging, careful young ladies in public service than Miss Beach." To this we say, amen. She Is all wool and a yard wide when it comes to filling this position. She Is kind, courteous and congenial. She has had the finest business training, train-ing, In theory at the B. Y". C. and In practice with our 'leading Logan lawyers and in the county 'clerk's office. Everywhere she has shown herself a faithful, competent worker and has made many friends. Thomas Irvine, tho candidate or county commissioner on the republican republi-can ticket, has lived in this city most of his life. Ills record Is before the people. By his thrift and business tact he has acquired a nice competency, compe-tency, which indicates that ho will look after the Interests of his constituency constitu-ency In tills county. A more worthy candidate was never placed before the peoplo for their support. For years lie with his good wifo Kate have been servants of the peoplo. In tho hours of trouble, sickness and death, the Irvlnes have been calIedoii and they have never failed to respond. Hundreds Hun-dreds of democrats In this county and especially In thin city will be glad of tho opportunity to cast a vote for Tom Irvine as a small token of respect and love they have for the gentleman and Ills estimable wife. We oiler the name of E. W. Robin, son as a legislative candidate with much pleasure, for we know that his life study along legislative and economic econo-mic lines together with his great amount of experience In public life will servo lo make hhn a very valu-ublo valu-ublo legislator. Ho will bo careful, conservative and courageous in the house and will be In a position to serve his constituents all tho better because of four years' contact with legislators and other leading men in defense of tho Agricultural college. Mr. Robinson served Logan two years as president o' the city council and four years as mayor. There Is no doubt In his case about the result of the vote as his personal friends are legion and they have always al-ways remembered him on election day. 0. M., or Clarence Hammond, as he M is commonly known, has the elements 'fl In him to make a first-class officer. ,H He comes highly recommended from H Castlo Gate, where he served as a IH peace officer in the ttino of a strike ffl years ago. Ho is a man of nerve and fl courage and Ills education is such as H to lit him for the duties of his office fl He is a married man, has a family .!fl and is a man of fixed habits and high 'fl moral character. lie Is well thought -fl ot as a private citizen and holds posl- 'fl tlons ecclesiastically that place him .fl before the people as an exemplary M man, which lie Is, In every respect. Under the caption of "Significant ifl Straw Vote," The Journal writes an fl editorial on straw votes taken by Thomas G. Lc we of this city citing to 'fl the presidential election ot eight years fl ago and also as to tho outcome of the .fl present election, which ot course tho !fl way it is put evcrthlng will be Bryan. fl In the same Issue ot The Journal it fl states that Heber Parker offers 1,000 ,fj to $500 that Bryan will be defeated. fl If Mr. Lowe has such confidence in his straw vote, why not take up Mr. . Parker's oiler. Nit! Democrats will H shout Bryan but vote for Taft. They fl know a good thing as well as the re- fl publicans in this respect. H W. W. Maughan, republican .noml- fl nee for Judge of the First Judicial tils- fl trlct, Is conceded to be one of the fl most conservative Judges In the state. H He is careful In. rendering his decls- fl ions and making his rulings. He is H methodical In his work; It being so H systemized that all details are kept H up with promptness and precision. jfl Ills dockets In the counties of Rich, jfl Cache and Box Elder, which constl- jfl tute the First Judicial district, are fl ail cleared up, so that the court Is not fl being crowded as some courts usually H arc. The election of Judge Maughan fl is pretty well conceded by the demo- JH crats. IJ F. T. Ballam, the republican noml- jfl nee for assessor, Is a young man of )H marked ability In many ways. He Is jH profound In thought and conservative In action. A better man 'could not , jflfl bo found in Cache valley in Judging the values of property. iffl Treasurer J. P. Toolson lias 9 been prominently before the people jfl the last two years, during which time )H no complaints have been heard. The dims can't beat him. He will go In jfl with a whoop. tfl The returning of Albert A. Law as (fl county attorney is eminently proper. jfl He has served one term faithfully and fl Is entitled to this recognition. He ''.fl Is ambitious and has acquired his ,H knowledge of law by close application jfl which fact has won for him tho re- !fl spect and esteem of his many friends. fl |
