Show Drowning at Preston in Strong-Arm Reservoir Last Thursday while In bathing In the Strong-Arm reservoir, ten miles north of Preston, Carl Johnson was drowned. In company with two other young men he left Mr. Chapman's place (lie was In the employ of Mr. Chapman) Immediately after the midday mid-day meal for the purpose of going In bathing. His companions state that upon reaching the reservoir, Mr. Johnson John-son saw some ducks near the edge of the dam and hurling a stone at them succeeded In wounding one. He then disrobed hastily and swam in after the duck. Carl had almost reached the duck when he was seen to turn round as though to come back. The other two boys ran over to the other side of the dam, the side upon which they usually updressed, thinking think-ing to go In b.ithlng immediately, but on arriving were astounded to tind their companion still missing. They called to him many times, but all In vain. The lads went home but gave no information in-formation as to tho whereabouts ofCarl until tho uext morning. A searching party was formed Immediately, and after dredging the reservoir for a whole (lay the body was recovered. The coroner, tne sheriff and the county coun-ty attorney were notltied. Messrs J. C. Jensen, Geo. E. Crockett and Joseph Davis, tho oillcers mentioned, went to the scene of the tragedy and held an Inquest over the remains, deciding that the deceased carqe to his death through drowning. Funeral services were held In the Fourth ward chapel Sunday at 12 o'clock at which a goodly number were present. Bishop Condle took chargo and Jos. Davis, V. P, Monsen, N. C. nansen, 0, J.
