Tho H Ifyrum Stake quarterly conference H was held hero Saturday and Sthriay H last. President W. C. rafkns'on pre- H sided. Apostle Orson F. Whitney was H present of visiting authorities. All H sessions of the conference wero well H attended, the house being crowded to H the limit on Sunday. Excellent sing- H ing was rendered by tho Hyrum Third H ward choir. A feature of the confer- H i enco was tho singing of Miss Walborg M Peterson at tho Sunday afternoon ses- s'on. President Parkinson gave a report re-port of the general condition of tho Stake. Tho following Itlshops gavo reports of their respective wards:0. O. Dunn, Samuel Oldham, David Murray, II. J. Nielsen, John D. Koueche, A.A. Allen Jr., Alma O. Jackson, Mormon D. Ulrd and B. It. Owen. Other speakers of the conference were A. M. Israelsen, Wm. II. Maughan, O. Shaw, Nellie E. Parkinson and Lars Larson. At each of the meetings Apostle Whitney gave excellent addresses in his Interesting style. Many expressions expres-sions were heard of the splendid success suc-cess of tho conference. Sunday night the Stake Mutuals gave an interesting interest-ing program. All were pleased that Apostle Whitney was present a part of tho time and gave another address to the young people. Last Thursday evening the First ward Primary gavo a vory successful operetta entitled, "Santa Claus' Defenders." De-fenders." Tills was the second presentation pres-entation or this piece, the first being so well received that many people desired de-sired to sec it again. Great credit Is due Mrs Clara Williams who had this matter In charge, for tier effort in training so many children. Quite a number of people who were once residents of ll'yrum are here spending the holldays.apd are visiting friends and relatives. Among them are Martha Allen, of Hlackfoot, Jerry Christiansen and wife, of Downey, Idaho, Ellen Allen, of Idaho Falls, John and Florence Wifkes, and Peter Jensen, of Pocatello. Joseph Baxter Jias been very prosperous pros-perous slncomo'vlng to our city. Last Saturday his wife presented him with twin bojs. Since then he lias been in such good humor that he has al most been giving things away at Ills store. The various places of amusements are well patronized as Is usual at tills season of the year. Dances are being given nearly every night at the pavilion, pavi-lion, and the skating rluk recently started Is crowded every mgh,t. Lars K. Larson lias returned from a two years' mission to Norway Ho is looking and reeling good. Whllo away ho spent most of his time In Christl-anla Christl-anla whcie he presided over a branch there. Mrv and Mrs. Joseph J. Jensen and daughter Ethel, rrom Idaho Falls, are hero to spend holidays and visit friends and relatives. Mr. J6nsen is one of the county commissioners in Bingham County, Idaho. All or our district school teachers will bo in attendance at the state teachers instltuto to be held In Ogden this week.
