They grthercd bcroro tho houso and sang "Count Your Many Blessings," an-nounclng an-nounclng their presence In that way. Tho evening was pleasantly spent and tho following program was rendered. About twenty or tho ofllcors wero present, and tho guests of honor wcro John Rlchter, Bishop Roskellcy, Bishop Bish-op Winn, Elders A. J. Merrill, Qulnco Kimball, Jos. Watts, J. F. Hlllyard, Geo. G. Merrill, Isaao Read, Jr., Mrs. Minnie Bain, Vera Carlson and Sarah A. Pitcher. Thocx-presldent was presented with a beautiful present, two rancy mantol ornaments; ex-Secretary Mlnnlo Bain was presented with a bcautUul rose bowl by the olllcers Tho procram was well rendered and a thoroughly good time spent. Sunday evening tho Secoiid Ward Mutual Association held a meeting in the Tabernacle, which on account or tho Inclement wcathci was very poorly attended. Those who attended listened lis-tened very attentively to the address on "Tho Effects or Alcohol on tho Si stem," by I)r R J. Smith. Miss Harper sang a very pretty song acceptably, ac-ceptably, and nfter congrrgatlonal singing, and benediction by Miss Mary Peterson, tho meeting vvus dismissed. The Old Folks Committee gavo a line danco Friday evening at Milliard's opera house, with tho Smithfield orchestra or-chestra furnishing the music. Tho danco was ono of the very best ever given In Smlthllcld, and a glorious tlmo was enjoyed by tho largo crowd present. This dance was a Uncial suc cess also. Tho organ fund concert held in the tabernacle Monday evening was largely attended. George Douglass, in tho laughable farce, was excellent and his efforts toarauso were very successful Judging by tho applause. Thootho selections were very good and the aur dlcncc seemed well pleased. Our popular plumber, A. J Bevcr-Idge, Bevcr-Idge, Is kept busy putting In water services In several residences, and Is Just finishing a line piece of work In tho residence of Annie McCracken. Mayor Melkle has been conllncd to tho houso tho past rew davs with a mild attack of appendicitis.
