Show $12,000 SCHOOL FOR NEWTON i ! NEWTON, March 13 Tho Relief Society held their anniversary yester- day, the nth. S.," by Mrs. Alice J. Christen- "sen. J Duct, Mrs. Alice Jenkins and Mrs. Mattle J. Grltlln, entitled "Far From . My Home." Speech, "Eirly History of the j Church." Closing remarks, Illshop M, 0. Rlgby. A grand masquerade party was held Friday evening, the 15th, which was much enjoyed by those taking part. There were many line costumes represented, repre-sented, among those i rcelvlng prizes being Edward Hasklll, taking tho part or "Faust," llrst prize: Mrs. Martha Jenkins, taking tho part of Indian Princess, second prize; Mrs. Mattlo J. Grltlln, representing a "Romance," 1 third prize. The school board held a meeting to- .A night to consider tho advisability of j"1. building a new school house In tho near future. County Supt. Mcl'arrey was present and made somo valuablo remarks in favor, and ho showed tho necessity of an up-to-dato school house for the health and education of the children. Tho ninth and tenth grades may ns well bo taught at homo, thus saving much means and havlngtho . children under tho observation of their parents. Tho sense of tho meeting was that tho trustees bu authorized to bond the district. A call will bo made- in tho near futuro for an election elec-tion to voto on this proposition for a bond of at least $12,000. . . ' Mr. and Mrs. Nalium Curtis nnd Ilrothcr Owen and Mrs. Clarcy Curtis, their mother, formerly of this place, have been visiting with friends and relatives here. Mr. Curtis is now bishop in a settlement in the Teton basin, and left for the north a few days ttRO. It has been storming fora long time; plenty of mud and all the cellars, with few exceptions, are filled with water. Considerable building and Improvements Improve-ments will bo made this season.
