Show Meteors and A. Cs Beat B.YX I A. C. Team Surprises itself and All Oth- I ers. Chicago team . Great Bunch. I "The Mcteors,"a world's champion-ship champion-ship basketball aggregation from Chicago, Chi-cago, came to Logan Monday night and gave the B. V. C. team the same kind of treatment accorded the Provo and American Fork teams, the game resulting In a scoro of 27 to 23 In favor of the Meteoric bunch. For a time In the latter hair it looked like the B. V. C. bojs might have a chance to win, but at the last minute the vlsltois threw baskets with surprising ease and made the- score named. This team walloped Provo b a score of 2:; to 14, and the American Fork team bvXlto 29. The visitors seem to have a disposition dis-position to beat their opponents by Just a small enough scoro to keep them from feeling badly about It. Tho B. C. boys played a splendid game but were not as quick on their feet, nor could they pitch tho ball like the other bunch. The local team seemed to play well together, but got an object lesson in this from the visitors, visit-ors, who worked to perfection. The Meteors started out rapidly, scoring live points before the locals got their wind, The Hrst half ended In a score of 10 to 15. Toward the close of the second half the B. V. C. boys had not only caught up but were a point or two In the lead and hope ran high. This was short lived, how-cver,for how-cver,for the Meteors were equal to the emergency and pulled out gracefully. However, the local team has Just reason rea-son to feel proud of their splendid showing. The experience Is worth a great deal. Another Game. The train which brought the Meteors was about two hours late and while waiting for them the F'rst and Second year team played tho Third and Fourth years a game of basketball. basket-ball. This was rather Interesting, resulting re-sulting In favor of the latter, score 23 to 15. friends, but the Aggie adherents as H well, and probably the team itself. H The B. V. C. team has been putting jH up a good stiff game, and heretofore H the Aggies have not been ablo to win H games. It may have been that tho jH Crimsons were over conlidcnt or that H the Aggies ran a terrific bluff at any H rate the farmer boys won and both H sides arc still telling In a different way H Just how It happened. H This much Is certain, the Aggies did H put up their best work of tho season. H Every man was there to play and he H followed his opponent like grim death, H determined by force of will and unttr- H Ing energy to best him. The gamo H was a hard one, rather rough on both H sides, and there were not a few fouls. H The boys from the hill had spent no H little tlmo in hard practice work for M this particular game and without H doubt aro entitled to all the glory for H which they were fighting. H The game started fiercely on the H part of the Aggies and they kept up H their lick. The first half ended 5 to 2 H in incir lavor, ana wnne uic u. Y. u. H boys sought to spurt forward and gain H their lost ground, tho A. C's met It jH and won out as stated above. M Rooters for both sides were out in M numbers and filled with the limit of M enthusiasm. It Is said that after the H game there came near being some M strenuous clashes but it was "all in 'H the gamo" and the best of feeling pre- M vails, although the 11. V. O. team Is a H little sore because this defeat hurts M their chances very materially In gain- 'M lng the championship, for which they M arc scheduled. M A pleasant feature of the evening H was the music furnished by the A. C. H of U. Military band, and the B. Y. C. H band. These aggregations enlivened M the. occasion very much. The gamo 'M was attended by u large crowd. ,M The standing of the teams in the M state league Is as follows: , Played Won Lost per cent B. Y. U. (i (1 0 1000 IH B. Y. C. 714 H L. D. S.
