Show Great Find for Roundy Discovers Metal Worth More than Gold On Bull Valley Mining Property. Thk Rhi'L'iimuan has many times mentioned the hopes of the Hull Valley Val-ley Mining Co, headed by S. W. Roundy and R A. Berry, of Ilenson and Logan, and has had occasion to present infoimutfon concerning their claims near St. George with description descrip-tion of the very lino onyx found there, splendid samples of wliich have been shown In Logan. According to the Salt Lake Mining Review, Messis. Roundy and Ueuy have not only very line onyx but a precious metal worth raoro than gold. The article from the Review Is good reading to those who may be interested In the Dull Valley prospect and vc here present It. The Review says: S. II. Roundy.of Cache Valley.Ulali, was in Salt Lake a few days ago en-route en-route to Hull Valley, Washington county, for the purpose of Increasing the force In the development of the property of the Hull Valley Mining company. This corapany.whose holdings cover valuable deposits of gold and silver ore, believes that Its most valuable assets as-sets arc In the quarries of onyx which exists on Its property, and In the exploitation ex-ploitation of which attention is now being directed. This onyx, The Mining Min-ing Review is Informed, is the purest yet found In tho United States, as It Is entirely free from lime. The onyx Is of various colors and tints, beautiful when polished, and can be taken out In large blocks and in large quantities, and It is of such excellent quality that It is believed that It will command a ready market in (Hah and clsewheic, for building purposes and in the decoration decor-ation of large and costly structures. It is stated that capitalists are Investigating Inves-tigating into the merits of this onyx with a view of purchasing. Gibbsite, a Rare Metal. When Mr. Roundy came up from the mines las month, ho brought with him samples of what was, to him, an unknown metal, which he stated had been found on the company's property, the occurrence being In seams and stringers In a hard white formation. Upon his return home he forwarded samplcsof the metal to the Geological Survey, at Washington, and In answer to Inquires as to Its character and value va-lue was Infoimcd that It was that rare metal, "Glbbsltc," and that It was more valuable than gold. Of course Mr. Roundy does not know the extent of this metal on the company's property, prop-erty, but he will Inaugurate an extensive exten-sive Investigation as to quantity upon his return to the mine. Gibbsite, according to Webster is a "mineral found at Richmond, in the state of Massachusetts, and named l.i honor of George Glbbs, president of the American Geological Society. It occurs In irregular stalastlcal masses, which present an aggregation of elongated, elon-gated, tuberous branches, parallel and united. Its structure Is tlbrous, the fibres radiating from an axis. Its colors are a dirty white, greenish white and grayish. It Is a hydrate of alumina.'' |
