The past few dajs heavy rains had washed out deep holes In the toad on the hill and as the night was very (lurk Mr. Smith could not sec his way and his horse fell into one of these holes, carrjlng the buggy and occupant occu-pant after him. Tom wallowed, around in the mud for about an hour endeavoring to extricate the ilgbut was unable to do so and had to leavo It until the next day when he came oer with a team and pulled It out. It was veiy foitunatc that buggy, horse and occupant did not go over the dug-way dug-way in their llounderlng around In the darkness In which case there was danger of very serious Injury. Basketball Fever. On Saturday the base-ball players met for the purposo of elfcctlng a permanent per-manent organization for the coming season Tom Smith and O K. Mc-Dougall Mc-Dougall were elected managers of tho team, the remainder of the organization organiza-tion to be elfected in the near future. This winter a modern steam heating plant was Installed making, the building build-ing very comfortable In cold weather. The present board of trustees consists con-sists of the following: Ilenij T. Bog-ers, Bog-ers, chairman; Nephl Lai son, secretary, secre-tary, R P Stokes. Allen R Cutler, Joseph Johnson ana Geo II. Carver. The faculty numbers eight and is as follows: Joseph W. Condle, principal, Mary Dalley. Mary Thomas, William Gerr, Myitle Blown. Ray Bogers, Kdna .lolin-.un and Olive Hanson. Principal Condle Is a giaduate of tho University of I'tiili, where ho did some very line woik as a stullent Ho Is thorough In his woik and Is. giving good satisfaction heie The trustees have engaged Mr Condle for the coming com-ing school vein There hae been uniollcd this winter between three and four hundred hun-dred students, who have been taking woik up to and Including the seventh grade.
