Show $50,000 Building for Logan Begins to Look Like Congressman Howell How-ell Will Get This For His Home Town. It begins to look as though Logan Is going to hac cause to be especially grateful to Congiessman Howell. Some lime ago It was noted in the dai'y Congressional liccoid that Mr. Howell had introduced a bill calling for a WO.OOO appropriation for a go eminent em-inent building In this elt), his home town, this building to be a postolllce structure, of course. Little consideration considera-tion was given to this, however, for It Is a customary thing for Congressman and Senators to ask for a large number num-ber of appropriations of this kind that they never get They Introduce the bills as evidence of their good Intentions, In-tentions, knowing, however, that In most Instance- the committee on ap-propiiatlons ap-propiiatlons will In all probability not include their icquest in the bill presented pre-sented for ratlllcatiou. From press reports It is gathered that Congressman Howell's bill asking ask-ing for tho $50,0000 appropriation for a Logan postolllce, together with Senator Smoot's bill calling for a like appiopriation for a building at Provo, Is to meet with a kindly fate. The wonderful Increase in the growth of business at tho Logan postolllce seems to have had an clfect and the It is a veiy customary thing for the controlling control-ling committee to grant Congicssmen and Senators reasonable requests for their home towns. Tills is a matter of courtesy, and courtesy goes a long way In the concessional body. It is said to be practically assured, in ws with which Tiik Rki'iiumca.v Is unfamiliar, un-familiar, however, that Mr. Howell, Is to get his icquest for Logan That a postolllce building Is needed hcie and would he appreciated to the limit can hardly be doubted The present postolllce quai tors mo hardly adequate at the present time, and In a few years would be exceedingly Inconvenient Incon-venient to both the public an 1 the foice of clerks required behind the scenes. It is also tine that in the city there Is not llrst class rooms available that could be rented by out Uncle Samuel. Congiessman Howell has ahcady secured several minor conveniences con-veniences for the Lsgan postolllce calculated to facilitate the business and If he now secures for us this appropriation ap-propriation for a handsome federal building ho will have done the public a great service and his own cause no harm. |
