Show I : j I- ' .1 I ! EvSheriff Fred Turner Announces His '.'.' i Fesition. - . . j ' ' j Editor Nation: Dear Rir: j Owing to 'circumstance which i confront me' at the present time, I I deem it advisable to pen a few I 'lines for publication. During ,my past life 1 have been known 1 I politically as a Democrat. In' I my early days, without much 'study I advocated the 'principles' ;of the Democratic' party, andj .have been true and loyal there-; ,to. During the past two years; i I have given some study and re- i jtettion to tne questions or tne ; day with feelings free from bias ! and have also observed the j results of two Nation-.', administrations adminis-trations under each party. Ac-' cording to the Ix-st light and ; judgment I have I am fully convinced con-vinced in my owmird that the! i Republican party and its prin-j ! ciples suit me better than any .'other. I look upon it as a party of competency when in power, being able to cr.asp matters of a rational importance -and bring Ithsi;; to a snet-essiu issue. It is the party of progress and ad- va.iweir.enr, kei-jitig itj view the neeos of the people and. .when j properly presented formulate Haws to meet the exigency, j I have also observed that par-,ty par-,ty principle stands v.'ith them 'first; personal interests last. I ! should, however, like to see a restriction of certain things ex-: ex-: istiiig- today, viz: Jrtr tft and com-' com-' biii?.sr"Ijat" I ISrffeveSltSfi-neitLe party can be charged with the j present state of atfairs, or all I such things are brought about by i actions' of. individuals who have .rights guaranteed them under the constitution. "We can also se men of both parties interested ,in trusts, looking after their own : interests in a pecuniary, sense. I 'lhis action of mine may cause some comment, for which I care 1 not, as I anv the person to be l.suited in this affair, and will not jcarfy the name of a Democrat ''and be a Kepuolican at heart. I 'have many friends in the 'Demo-.cratic 'Demo-.cratic party: that I highly' res-(pect, res-(pect, and believe they have al-i al-i ways been and are today true to 'their convictions, which is com-mendable com-mendable ,,I consider that .all ' men ..have the ':God-l.given ':God-l.given . right to pursue that eoursie which they themseUcs believeis for their i?est good and for those over whom they have influence.. In conclusion wilt state I do not expect to again be active in I politics, but simply and honestly j believe the ' Republican potv is the one for the masses of the people to adhere to for througn their enactment of laws tney , have opened up avenues of trade that all may work and none be idle, and in f Jture.on all national matters, I shall support the Republican Re-publican party with' my note and influence. . Respectfully, Fred Turner. Logan, Sept. 30th. 1901. |
