Show Boys Olub Climb 1 MoiintTimpanoogas l-ast Tuesday ten boys, members or the Agricultural club, led by Illshop James II. Walker, ellmcd to tho top r Mt. Tlmpanoogas. Monday they walked as far as Ground Hog Flat, on the top or Llttit, Mountain, whero they camped over night and got n soaking from tho rain. After eating !K'lhB8J "l ,! "- m- lUy 8lnrtctl the big climb, reaching the top nl 11:30. they reashed the comb of tho mountain moun-tain about a mllo north of the highest Peak.. Tho comb, Is In many places, but a few feet wide with steep precipices preci-pices on cither side and some of tho boys, because of tlio light air, had to crawl In places. On tho highest peak s a Htono cement box with u copper d, engraved "Mt. Tlmpanoogas." In the box nrc paper slips on which aro written the names of many climbers who have been there. Dinner was eaten eat-en on tho highest peak. Tho return trip was made by wny of tho bald mountain trail, reaching camp, on Ground Hog Flat, nt p. m. After supper tho boyB came home, singing praises of tho trip, which alt pronounced to be tho tlmo or their lives. |
