Show SUSC Night School reinstates lighthouse' community program Anyone from SUSC or the Cedar City Community is invited to become involved in Lighthouse. There is a weekly training session each quarter at SUSC's Night School. Credit is available under Psychology 331. Further questions may be directed to Lighthouse 586-9966. Lighthouse, an organization committed to the philosophy that trained, non-professional people can provide a much needed service for the community of Cedar City, has reopened their services. There are three programs offered through Lighthouse. First, The Hot Line is a telephone crisis intervention center, oDeratins from 5-12 every night. Lighthouse is open to calls from anyone that has any kind of problem or needs someone ta talk to. People can receive help for anything from loneliness to suicide. The Special friend, is a telephone reassurance program in which Lighthouse people call on different elderly people in the community for some friendly conversation. The Mutual Lift Program is a big brother, big sister arrangement that provides a one to one friendship relationship between young members of the community and the Lighthouse volunteer. |
