Glen Anderson of the SUSC art department presents demonstration on watercolor techniques at Week of the Arts program conducted at South Elementary. , Elementary observes week of Arts Bach March", "Johnny comes Marching Home", and "Large". A special number "Old English Dance" was played by four students from South and two from East Elementary. Under the direction of Larry Wright, the band played : "By the Time I Get to Phoenix". "Theme from Shaft", "Colorado Trail", "Barcerolle", and "A and W March". South Elementary joined with other schools throughout Utah in observing "Week of the Arts" this week. Under the direction of PTA committee members, Mrs. Rex Michie, Mrs. Lesley Burbidge, and Mrs. James Cotts displays and demonstrations have been-set been-set up for the purpose of encouraging en-couraging the development of talent and sharing creative arts. On Tuesday displays and demonstrations were given by Debbie DeMille in Macramae, Mrs. Kristine Leigh in spinning, Ron Rancer in The Relief Woodcut, Glen Anderson in watercolor, Mark Stewart in drawing, Dave Twitchell in pottery making; and Curt Paulson in Plaster Casting. Students were shown these various arts and many were given the opportunity to try doing them by themselves. On Thursday a music program was presented to the studentbody by music students at South Elementary. . The program, under the direction of vice-principal Tom Walker consisted of numbers by the string orchestra and band. The orchestra, directed by Katie Walton, played the "J. S. |
