Show Utah Interstate System nears Completion The Utah Department of Transportation announced that Utah's 936 mile Interstate In-terstate . system is now 82 percent open to traffic as "of October 1st. A total of 772 miles are now open to the motoring public. Interstate 15, the major north-south route has 337 miles open to traffic out of its total length of 402 miles. Interstate 80 has 179 miles open out of 193 total miles. Interstate 70 which extends ex-tends from the Colorado State Line hear Grand Junction and terminates at Interstate 15 at Cove Fort has 168 miles open out of 230 miles. Interstate 84 from Echo through Tremonton to the Idaho border has 71.5 miles open out of a total of 81 miles. While Interstate 215 (The Belt Route) in the Salt Lake Area has 16 miles open out of 29. Of the remaining 164 miles to be completed, 70 miles is under-going construction, and 70 miles on Interstate 70 is being upgraded from two to four lanes. |
