The medical meeting began October 8 and runs through October 11. More than 4,000 family doctors are participating in this once-a-year continuing education conclave. Subjects covered in this four-day scientific session are of immediate interest to family doctors both in their everyday practices and in their continual endeavors to keep abreast of the latest advances in medicine. This year, topics include Legionnaires' Disease, drug interactions, learning disabilities, depression and care of the aging. The Academy, headquartered in Kansas City, is the nation's second largest medical organization. It was the pioneer in requiring its members to take continuing education. Its 44,000 members must complete 150 hours of mandatory continuing con-tinuing study every three years. Just prior to the scientific meeting, Dr. Graff took part in the annual meeting of the Academy's Congress of Delegates, the official policy-making body of the organization. The group met Saturday, Sunday and Monday morning, October 6-8. 6-8. Each constituent chapter elects two delegates and two alternates (to serve in absence ab-sence of a delegate) to the Congress of Delegates. Dr. Graff serves as a delegate. |
