Show Drillers Seek Oil in St. George Area at the Coalville area deep test well, the No. 13-3 Weber Coal Co. Total depth of the well is 10,512 feet. The operator will deepen to at least 20,000 feet for new tests. It is located on the outskirts of Coalville. A deep exploratory oil and gas test well will be drilled in the St. George area, about 12 miles south of the city, by an oil and gas drilled company based in Hurricane, Utah notes Carlton Stowe, spokesman for the Utah Department of Natural Resources. Murel Goodell, Hurricane, has scheduled a 12,400 foot test in the extreme ex-treme northwestern area of Arizona, in Mohave County. It is just south of the Utah state line and about four miles east of the Nevada state line. Goodell's well is the No. 2 Goodell-Basin-State. There has been no previous drilling to a comparable depth in the general vicinity of either Arizona or Utah. The test well site is nearly 50 miles west-southwest of the Virgin field in Washington County. The operator also indicates a shallow test well, the No. 1 Goodell-Basin-State, projected to about 1,085 feet will be drilled. Elsewhere in Utah, Mr. Stowe reports that Marathon Oil has reached a depth of 17,302 feet and still drilling at the No. 1-15 South Eden Canyon wildcat well on the Overthrust Belt 14 miles north of Randolph. It is just east of the southern area of Bear Lake and about 4V2 miles northwest of the Hogback Ridge area. It was scheduled as a 15,400 foot test of the Devonian formation. In Summit County ,,7 miles northwest of Oakley, Amoco is drilling at 8,710 feet at the No. 1 Rockport Reservoir, a projected 12,500 foot test well. At the apparent gas discovery, the No. 1 Fawcett & Son, Amoco is drilling below 14,590 feet - will drill to at least 15,500 feet for potential testing of the Madison formation. Amoco recently reported that gas was tested from Phosphoria formation between 11,388 and 11,600 feet. The significant discovery is about 13 miles north of the Pineview field and about 11 miles southwest of Evan-ston. Evan-ston. The Michigan Wisconsin Pipeline Company has started clean-out operations |
