Show CedarWoman Victim of Assult A Cedar City woman was the victim of an aggravated assault early last Firday morning when a West Jordan man forcibly took his children from her home. The three children had been placed by the state in the custody of the victim, Hilda Williams, and her husband, Richard Williams, who is the childrens uncle. Mrs. Williams was struck in the face and back by the childrens' father after he entered the home at 12:20 a.m. and demanded the children be allowed to leave with him and she refused. The alleged assault on Mrs. Williams occurred while Mr. Williams was attempting to call the police. According to Cedar City Police Officer Mike Fisher, the assailant was identified as Mr. Williams' brother, Jon Reece Williams of West Jordan. Officer Fisher reported that Jon Williams entered his brother's home demanding his three chidlren, ages 1,2, and 4, be returned to him. The father allegedly had a .357 handgun which he threatened to use if any one got in his way. After allegedly striking Mrs. Williams, the suspect got the children from their beds and fled the area in his automobile. The suspect was arrested and held on $5,000 bail. |
