Show When Everything goes Right . . . . Somethings Bound to Happen By Mary Gae Evans This has been a memorable week, almost errie. Have you ever had a week when everything went so well it was downright scary? Well that's the way its been here and I'm real nervous. First of all, I filled the washer with the usual heavy load of socks, and when I took them out, my heart almost stoped. I actually ac-tually found three matching pairs - 36 odd ones - but three pairs. That must be some sort of a record. Then when I went on to the vacuuming I was able to go right into it without first emptying the bag and the belt didn't come off even once. It picked up paper clips and bits of platic and spit out the pennies (no one will bend over to pick them up anymore) with only a slight clunking and knocking. I had to mend a pair of Levies and I thought sure that would be the end of my spell of luck, but to my surprise, and absolute awe. the sewing machine needle didn't break and the bobbin didn't run out. I went to the grocery store and they had every ingredient I needed for my cookie recipe, "no, sorry its on order problems. Then for the first time in my 30 odd years I did not burn the last-batch last-batch of cookies. Did I slip that 30 by you ok? You know that's the only disadvantage I can think of to small town living. Everyone knows exactly how . old everyone else is. There is always someone around who was "in your class" or had a sister or brother your age and wants to talk about it. ' Oh well back to the good luck story. I had to get, ready for a meeting in a hurry and to my amazement I had a pair of panty hose without a run, and when I accidently stepped on my hem it only took me 10 minutes to find a safety pin to make emergency repairs. I didn't forget a single meeting or appointment last week "or did I?" Well anyway we also got past the biggest extravaganza, gigantic holiday of the year (fishing season) - of course you guessed that -- without a single mishap. No one had to throw up while sleeping on Hhc-top-nunk nvthrrmnper, -no one got hooked except the fish. The worms went quietly with no screaming or biting, and even though the fish were already full of corn and velveta cheese a few appreciated ap-preciated the worms sacrifice. And this, this is the clin-' cer, when I cooked the fish, for--the first time since we have been married, my husband did not say "why can't you cook these like my mother used to." Now that is really scary. This just can't last. |
