Show Adams, Rust qualify for National NAIA Meet were Western State (73), New Mexico Highlands (81), Southern Utah State (82), Southern Colorado (83), and Colorado Mines (148). Two Westminster runners competed, but teams are ineligible unless they enter at least five runners. Two Southern Utah State College cross country runners, Richard Adams and Joe Rust, have qualified for the NAIA national cross country championships. Adams, a freshman from Cedar City, finished seventh in the recent NAIA meet in Alamosa, Colorado, to qualify. Rust, a senior from Garden Grove, California, finished 12th at Alamosa to earn his berth in the national championships. The national meet will be held November 19 on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Parkside at Kenosha, Wisconsin. Adams and Rust each finished high in Saturday's Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference meet hosted by SUSC. Adams, running in a three-man pack for second place, finally finished third behind Frank Rivera and Bob Fink, both of Adams State. His time was 26 minutes and 21 seconds. Rivera's winning time was 26.07, and Fink finished just four seconds ahead of Adams in 26.17. Dick LeDoux, Southern Colorado, was fourth, three seconds behind Adams. Jim Kearns, a junior from Mesa, Arizona, finished 12th in the RMAC meet, two places ahead of Rust. Kearns' time was 27.59; Rust finished in 28.12. Bruce McLaren (28.41), junior from Garden Grove, California, finished 19th, and Andrew Singer (30.01), freshman from Kayenta, Arizona, finished 34th in the field of 40 runners.
