Show Five candidates nominated for City Coordinating Council posts General Elections to the Central Committee of the Cedar City Coordinating Council Coun-cil will be conducted Wednesday Wednes-day night, July 12. Ballots will be distributed at Coordinating Coordin-ating Council meeting. Two members will be chosen to serve for a three year term. These candidates were nominated nom-inated by a nominating committee; com-mittee; LaVell Chamberlain, Chairman, with Carol Ann Jones and Reverand Grayson Gowan. Two incumbent candidates candi-dates will appear on the ballot; bal-lot; Mitchell Lunt and Lorainc Juvclin. Mr. Lunt has served as Chairman of the Coordinating Council for the past year with a special assignment to the Recreation Committee. He is a native of Cedar City where he attended school, graduated from High School and attended attend-ed SUSC He is manager of Lunt Motor Company. Mr. Lunt has been active in civic and community affairs and has held many positions of leadership. He has been especially active in youth organizations. or-ganizations. His wife is the former Maurine Prince of New Harmony and they are the parents of five children. Loraine Juveline is an incumbent in-cumbent candidate to the Central Cen-tral Committee. She has serv ed one term on the Central Committee with a special assignment as-signment to the Beautifica-tion Beautifica-tion Committee. She is very interested in the ecology of this area and is a charter member of I.S.S.U.E., an or-ganized or-ganized group to preserve our natural heritage. Mrs. Juveline has lived most of her life in California. She attended Mills College and University of Southern California Cali-fornia at Los Angeles. She received re-ceived a Bachelors Degree at SUSC after moving to Cedar City. She has been active in the League of Women Voters and has served as President She is the wife of Ray Juveline and the mother of two daughters. daugh-ters. John Padden has been nominated. nomi-nated. He is assistant Ranger of the Forest Service in Cedar City. He was born in Ekalaka, Montana where he attended school and graduated from J High School. He attended college col-lege at the School of Forestry of the University of Montana at Missouli whore he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree. After college he worked for the Forest Service at Reno, and Austin, Nev. before coming to Cedar City; He is active in Lions Club and Chamber of Commerce. His wife is the former Jaunita Manicke. They are the parents of three children. child-ren. Mrs. Olga Beck, another can-didate can-didate was born in Minneapolis, Minneapol-is, Minn. She attended school there and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a bachelors degree in medical technology. Mrs. Beck came to Cedar City to live in 1953. Her husband hus-band is Paul Beck and they are the parents of three children. child-ren. She is employed as Medical Medi-cal Technician at the Valley View Medical Center. The League of Women Voters Vot-ers has been one area of Mrs. Bock's activity and leadership involvement. She has also been active in P.TA. Brenda Lapour was born and raised in Hurron, S. D. She attended school there and graduated from High School in Hurron. She attended Hurron College. She is the wife of Joseph Lapour, the Wrestling coach and Physical Education Professor at SUSC They are the parents of four boys. Mrs. Lapour was active in PTA in South Dakota where she held many positions of leadership. She was active in Beta Sigma Phi there and worked with service projects for underprivileded cliildien. |
