This evening the Cedar High Orchestra, along with the concert band and the Bear River High School concert band will present a concert at the Cedar High School auditorium. Event will be followed with a dance. Cedar band, orchestra join Bear River in concert to participate in a music tour to Europe this summer. The Cedar High School Band placed "Superior" in Region Eight music festival held at St. George Saturday. The judges commented to Mr. Silvester Sil-vester that the band had per-, formed exceedingly well very! difficult music. j This evening's concert will j be the final appearance of the orchestra this year. Cedar i High School Music Department expects it to be one of the outstanding musical treats of tlie season. This evening, Thursday, May 15, the Cedar City High School Orchestra and Concert Band wil be hosts to the Bear River High School Concert Band. The visiting band and the Cedar High School Orchestra Orches-tra and Concert Band will all participate in a concert to be held at the auditorium at 8:15 p. m. Tlie public ds invited. The Bear River Band is directed dir-ected by J. Golden Ward, and Is comprised of 70 musicians, i The group has won recognition recogni-tion as one of the finest wind bands in the entire western United States. - Tlie band boosts that it has produced a first chair musician musi-cian in the world renowned School Band of America since its conception. Included in this group is Cedar High School Bands diiector Wm. Silvester. Sil-vester. Following the concert, a dance will be held at the Cedar Ce-dar High School with the Bear River High School Stage Band. It should be noted that this outstanding high school stage band won the jazz stage band competition in Reno, Nev., last month. Competing wen? bands from California, Arizona, Nevada, Nev-ada, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Ida-ho, and Utah. Admission for tlie dance will be 50 cents and refreshments will be provided. Proceeds from tiie dance wil be used to help members of the Cedar High School Chorus and Band |
